MYP framework guide
The sixteen MYP key concepts
Key concepts are the big ideas that run across every MYP subject. Each unit anchors to one key concept, pairs it with subject-specific related concepts, and connects both to a global context in the statement of inquiry.
Aesthetics
What makes something beautiful or expressive?
The appreciation and analysis of beauty, form, taste and the choices artists and designers make to create meaning.
Change
How and why do things transform?
The process of movement from one state to another — causes, processes and consequences of transformation in natural and human systems.
Communication
How do we share meaning?
The exchange of signals, ideas, feelings and information through speaking, writing, symbols, media and body language.

The connections and interdependence between people, societies and environments at local, regional and global scales.

Sets of interacting or interdependent parts that form complex wholes — in nature, technology and society.
Time, place and space
How do where and when shape experience?
The ways location, duration and scale frame human experience, events and natural phenomena.
Which concepts anchor our subjects
Sciences units on EduLib anchor to Change, Relationships and Systems; Mathematics to Form, Logic and Relationships; and English to Communication, Connections, Creativity and Perspective. Inquira AI offers the right concepts automatically when you build a lesson plan.
